McCormick and Weatherchem amicably resolve lawsuit

McCormick and Weatherchem have amicably agreed to settle and resolve the litigation arising from Weatherchem's introduction of a new non-refillable grinder package.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore, alleged that Weatherchem marketed the grinder as having the "same packaging shape as brand leaders." Weatherchem addressed McCormick's concern of trademark infringement by modifying the shape of its current grinder bottle. McCormick agreed that the new bottle shape does not infringe on McCormick's trademark rights.

Weatherchem has 90 days to sell all remaining inventory of the original bottle. All litigation regarding the issue has been dismissed.
