Closures bring classics to life

In Vienna, Austria, gourmet jam producer Staud’s Vienna has successfully launched its Kunst und Genuss (Arts and Delights) promotional campaign with custom-designed steel caps from Crown Closures Europe.

Together with Austria’s Vienna tourism office and five of the city’s most prominent art museums, Staud’s Vienna is now selling jars of its premium jams with lids bearing striking reproductions of classic works of art to promote the city and its many cultural treasures.

Replicating priceless paintings on steel caps poses several challenges in color matching. Crown was selected for the job because of its long relationship with Staud. The jam producer and the participating museums selected a total of 25 paintings, and Crown then printed the closures on a four-color offset litho press.

“Based on our previous experience working with Crown, we were confident in their technical abilities and services on this project,” says Hans Staud, who now runs his family’s 121-year-old gourmet food business. “These caps are truly brilliant.”

Crown produces the 43- and 53-mm caps in Seesen, Germany, and Aprilia, Italy. —PR
