Virus as food additive

The FDA approved the first ever bacteria killing virus to be sprayed on meats prior to packaging.

The combination of six viruses, designed to be sprayed on ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, including sliced ham and turkey, hot dogs and sausage, combats common microbes that kill hundreds of people a year. Company that developed the spray says red meat is next target.
