Mechatronic update for proven overwrapper design

Scandia Packaging Machinery specializes in high speed overwrapping systems for pharmaceuticals, media DVDs and CDs, candy, tobacco and more.

They pioneered the 3 fundamental principles of high speed overwrapping: single level package flow, continuous rotary motion and vertical material feed.

Now they’ve applied servo automation to their proven design, with an 8-axis servo overwrapper using servo modules from Schneider Electric’s ELAU Packaging Solutions.

The servo modules control film feed, tear tape feed, rotary knife, product infeed conveyor, outfeed conveyor, main turret axis, sealing platens, and tucker.

The distinctive servo modules combine motor and drive, saving substantial electrical cabinet space while vastly simplifying wiring and installation.
