PACK EXPO : The Pharmacarton Coding System from Nutec Systems is for high-resolution digital thermal ink-jet printing of variable information on pharmaceutical and medical cartons.

The system combines a precision conveyor with a synchronized top hold-down belt, and is integrated with a Wolke M600 thermal ink-jet printer that utilizes Hewlett Packard disposable ink-jet technology. Also integrated is a SeaVision OCV character Verification System and a reject station. A single graphical user interface (GUI) governs the complete system, so there is one point of validation required.

Other news announced by Nutec at Pack Expo Las Vegas is the formation of a strategic marketing partnership with leading label converter The John Henry Co. to offer high-quality, secure, digital on-line printing technology that will help companies--pharmaceutical companies in particular--protect their products from tampering and their distribution systems from diversion. With this agreement in place, says John Henry Co. president Shahriar Ghoddousi, "Our customers can select whether they want us to pre-apply this printing in our facility or have us assist them in integrating the capability into their packaging lines." Nutec president Ernest Di Giulio also added his comments at a September 26 press briefing: "This partnership allows us to offer our clients the most up-to-date technology available to code products and protect distribution.
