Massman Companies proudly announced the successful grand opening of their new 72,000-square-foot facility located on 80 acres of land in Alexandria, MN. The private event, was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, luncheon, and guided tours.
Massman Companies CEO Jeff Hohn, Alexandria Area Economic Development Director Nicole Fernholz, and Granite Partners founder and CEO Rick Bauerly were guest speakers at the event.
"Well, we did it,” said Hohn as cheers erupted. “This is an incredible celebration of Massman and of our incredible employees. We feel incredibly blessed, humbled, and honored to share the Grand Opening of the Massman Companies campus with each of you."
Highlighting commitment to employee wellness, Fernholz said Massman Companies is the exact company they inspire to attract to the region to make Alexandria a place where you want to raise your family and start a business.
“The manufacturing industry is a dynamic segment of our economy and a fundamental part of our economic development strategy,” said Fernholz. “As the 90th manufacturing business in Douglas County, we celebrate your longevity and look forward to years of continued growth ahead for Massman in the Alexandria area.”
“Our goal is to keep the ownership of all Massman Companies local for the long run,” said Bauerly, noting it is often challenging for companies to focus on the future as many are publicly owned and frequently bought and sold. He continued, “By long run we mean across decades and generations for the benefit of all.”
In a symbolic gesture representative of the manufacturing industry, the Massman Automation controls team programmed a Doosan collaborative robot to cut a bright Massman-orange ribbon to mark this significant achievement. “Done in true Massman fashion,” said Robert Imme, Sr. Electrical and Controls Engineer at Massman Automation.
The grand opening ribbon-cutting event, attended by 200 invited guests, included lunch with a barbecue provided by our award-winning Massman grill team and guided tours that provided an inside look at the state-of-the-art facility and our innovative operations.
During the guided tours, guests saw how the facility was built to emphasize collaboration, community, and love of the great outdoors. Unique attributes highlighted on the tour included collaborative workspaces; conference rooms named after local lakes; glass windows between the office and manufacturing spaces to promote a sense of community and openness; 18-foot windows in both the office and shop floor providing ample natural light; outdoor patio spaces for team meetings, events, and lunches; and a one-mile walking trail for exercise and walking meetings.
