TOSS Machine Components, Inc. to Debut PIREG-548 Touch-Screen Interface Terminal at PACK EXPO

TOSS Machine Components, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of advanced impulse heat sealing controls and components, will exhibit at Booth W-746 at PACK EXPO Las Vegas, on September 29-October 1, 2025. A new product offering will debut – the PIREG®-548 Touch-Screen Interface Terminal which pairs with the PIREG C2 line of DIN rail mounted in-cabinet controllers. The PIREG C2 line will be on display and includes the PIREG C2-220 with ETHERNET/IP, C2-210 PROFINET, and C2-200 Analog Controller. A Panel Mounted controller offering a display and additional features named the PIREG-545 will be exhibited along with the renowned TOSS Alloy-20® heat seal bands, a superior choice over old, conventional Nichrome ribbons. The TOSS technical team will be available at the booth to assist with any projects or challenges, providing their guidance and expertise in heat sealing.

The PIREG C2 is a line of state-of-the-art impulse heat seal controllers which measures voltage and current of the heating element to interpret its resistance that is correlated to specific temperatures enabling fast, accurate, and the ultimate process control for general packaging or advanced manufacturing industries including life sciences, aerospace, military, and more. Greater process control enables reduction or elimination of scrap rates, seal failures, and downtime. This line is offered in a variety of communication protocols. The C2-200 Analog Controller is a robust and user-friendly solution for in cabinet impulse heat sealing controls known for its reliable analog control and straightforward interface. More advanced communication protocols can be used with the PIREG-C2-210 and PIREG C2-220 for PROFINET or EITHERNET/IP respectively, offering advanced digital control and seamless integration into modern industrial networks. All C2 controllers feature microprocessor technology delivering precision temperature control without the need for thermocouples or RTDs, making it ideal for a range of sealing applications including vertical form/fill/seal, pouch filling, web splicing, film wrapping and more.

Visitors to the TOSS booth will be among the first to experience the PIREG-548 Touch-Screen Interface Terminal, designed to connect with the PIREG-C2 heat seal controller building onto the functionality of the PIREG line of controllers. The PIREG-548 interface terminal is designed for panel mounting. This touch-screen display is a low voltage device offering direct communication to the PIREG controller. It provides real time graphical and numerical display of the heating element’s temperature along with the ability to set sealing temperature. Calibration can also be accomplished through the display and optional thermocouple integration offers more advanced calibration options. Together, the PIREG-548 and PIREG-C2 delivers rapid, accurate temperature measurement by reading the heat sealing band’s resistance directly, eliminating the need for thermocouples while in cycle and ensuring fast response and stability. It supports a wide range of voltage ratings, as well as seamless PLC integration.

Rounding out the line of controllers offered by TOSS is the PIREG-545 Pannel Mount heat seal controller. This controller uses the same resistance based technology of the C2 with the addition of an OLED display, timing functionality, and integrated relays. The PIREG-545 is a direct plug-and-play replacement for the now obsolete 440 and 445 controllers TOSS had previously supplied, with added functionalities such as single or multi-point temperature calibration, password security, and batch counter.

Alongside the PIREG controllers, TOSS will feature its industry-leading TOSS Alloy-20® heat seal bands engineered for durability and optimal heat transfer. They replace outdated Nichrome wire and are available in a variety of configurations to accommodate straight and contoured sealing requirements, providing reliable performance across a broad spectrum of packaging materials and applications.
