Aqua Based Technologies: Grease-resistant coating for food packaging

Designed for use with paper, board, and new starch-based food packaging substrates (such as PLA), Aqualene 5050 from Aqua Based Technologies, a division of ADM Tronics Unlimited, Inc., is an eco-friendly, water-based coating that is economical, repulpable, and has high oil and grease resistance (OGR).

Suitable for us on food wrappers and bags, (especially for the fast-food industry), paper and paperboard packaging, microwave packaging, frozen food containers, paper plates, boxes, cups and other demanding packaging and food service applications.

Aqualene 5050 is eco-friendly, with ZERO VOC's (volatile organic compounds), repulpable (all ingredients meet TAPPI Standards for repulpability) and complies with FDA requirements for direct food contact packaging (21 CFR 176.170, 176.180 and 175.320).

Aqualene 5050 dries clear and is flexible and non-yellowing, making it suitable for diverse end-use applications.

It requires very light application levels to achieve desired properties. A minimum coating weight of only 2.0 grams/m2 provides high OGR results of Kit 8 to 10 (3M OGR Kit standard), making it an economical replacement for conventional OGR coatings requiring much higher application levels.

In addition, Aqualene 5050 is VOC-free and does not contain any ozone depleting ingredients, making it environmentally safe.

A high-performance product which is applied by conventional coating apparatus - gravure, flexo, rod, roll-coater, etc., it is used as supplied and available in pails, drums, and totes.
