Cloud has performed these services for decades on a small scale, but is adding a dedicated team and a 100,000-sq-ft facility exclusively for secondary packaging. Cloud’s expanded capabilities include cartoning, shrink-wrapping, vertical form/fill/seal, display assembly, multipacks, variety packs, and pallet-ready displays.
• CCB Packaging, Hiawatha, IA, has received a Superior rating in its annual facilities audit from the American Institute of Baking (AIB). The company has achieved this rating for five consecutive years.
• Millstone Medical Outsourcing, Fall River, MA, has signed agreements with four companies to provide loaner kit-processing services through the company’s Memphis, TN, facility. The customers include Spinal Technologies Inc. and OMNI Life Sciences Inc. Loaner kit processing, in general, includes inspection, cleaning, replenishment, distribution, and tracking of surgical loaner kits used for orthopedic operations. Millstone, an outsourcing partner to orthopedic companies, provides aftermarket services, start-up services, and contract-packaging capabilities for medical-device manufacturers worldwide.
• Salazar Packaging Inc., Plainfield, IL, has moved into a new, 12,500-sq-ft facility, which will focus on distribution of packaging materials and equipment. The company focuses on sustainable packaging, flexible film, and packaging automation. With additional warehouse space, the company plans to offer more warehousing and delivery options for customers with special requirements.
• Surefil LLC, a Grand Rapids, MI-based contract manufacturer of liquid-fill products for the personal care, homecare, and medical industries, recently passed a Silliker audit with a score of 96.7%. Surefil requested the audit as a means for continuous improvement.
