Star packaging for Star Canyon

Managing partner Michael Cox believes his Star Canyon Restaurant has succeeded partly because of the way it capitalizes on its unique Dallas setting. Until recently that meant menu and decor for the most part.

Now it includes packaging of items sold at retail. Previously sold only in the restaurant, Star Canyon's product line has been so popular that management is taking it into retail outlets nationwide this year. Fisher Design (Cincinnati, OH) has created packaging that promotes the richness of the Dallas region. Each label reflects the glow of the canyon at sunset with stylized versions of its native residents: snakes, horned toads and scorpions. All 21 products in the line--from tortilla chips to fire roasted salsas to Mango Habanero Vinegar to Canyon Black Fire bean soup--are handled by contract packagers.
