Sachet packaging opportunity?

A sales-expanding idea for health and beauty aids and other products.

Coolbusinessideas.com suggests packagers consider opportunities in single-dose sachet packaging for health and beauty aids (HBA) and other products.

An article published at the Web site on February 14, 2008 pointed out that the majority of shampoos, laundry detergents and other related beauty aids/personal care and home cleaning products sold in south Asia are single-use sachets for a simple reason: Many Indian consumers are not able to afford the purchase of traditional sized packages.

In North America, sachets of this type have usually only been used as a giveaway for promoting consumer trial, or sold for use while traveling. However, Shoppers Drug Mart, Canada's leading pharmacy chain, has taken single use sachets and developed an entirely new category of these high-margin sachets.

The article showed an "Anti-Aging Micro Dermabrasion Duo" sachet (see picture) as one of approximately 20 new private label sachet products that retail for $2.49 each. This particular product features a perforated sachet of two individual portions. Usage directions on the package back recommend use “2 to 3 times per week for best results”—clearly a potentially large revenue source for Shoppers.

What consumer products do you use every day that could be repackaged or reformatted to sell incremental volume?
