Plastic food containers will help drive food container demand to $12.6 billion by 2005, according to Food Containers, a new study from The Freedonia Group, a Cleveland-based market research firm.

Sauces and condiments will present the strongest growth opportunities in food. The study forecasts plastic food container growth of 5.5% annually to $3.6 billion by 2005.

Paperboard will remain dominant in folding cartons used for aseptic and gable-top cartons. Meanwhile, metal and glass containers will exhibit the slowest growth, says the $3꺜, 228-page study. For details, call Corinne Gangloff at 440/684-9600, or visit
