Pack Expo 2004: RoboBar robotic bartender
WEB EXCLUSIVE: Motoman is introducing its RoboBar robotic bartender to acclaim of happy customers at its booth, S-1495, at Pack Expo International 2004. Machine, built with traditional packaging-related robotic components, is programmed to mix and pour alcoholic drinks to specification. Dual-armed, high-speed robot is equipped with a color LCD display screen, a touch screen programmed to accept the customers order, a magnetic card reader (optional), stainless-steel bar with safety enclosure, a cup dispenser, beer tap tower, ice maker, and a soda and juice dispensing tower. Welch's opts for multilayer PP, easy-spread cap
Like other juice marketers, Welch’s has typically relied on heat-set polyethylene terephthalate when converting from glass to plastic. But the firm changed that pattern when it came time to design a plastic alternative to its 10-oz single-serve glass containers. This time, the Concord, MA-based firm opted for a translucent polypropylene bottle rather than clear PET.

Shrink label sales to double
Sales of shrink labels for bottles and other containers will double between 1999 and 2004, according to a new study from Keymark Associates. Opportunities in Shrink Film Labels for Bottles says milk, ready-to-drink tea, sports drinks, and beer will show growth of more than 30% annually, 20% for juice, and 15% for water, ready-to-drink coffee, and liquor.
