MOCON: Rapid microbiological detection system

MOCON, Inc. is announcing major enhancements to its GreenLight rapid microbial detection system; the innovative oxygen sensor vials used with the GreenLight system now feature a 50 percent increase in shelf life and a broader storage temperature range.

The APCheck vials now offer an 18-mo. shelf life at storage temperatures ranging from 4 to 40 deg. C. The significance to quality control professionals is that the testing vials will be usable for a longer period of time without investment in costly refrigeration equipment necessary with other methodologies.

The innovative sensor vials work with GreenLight to measure changes in oxygen content in a microbial sample. This information can be converted to a presence/absence result or an enumeration of microbial load in colony forming units per gram (CFU/g).

The GreenLight rapid microbial detection system is currently being used in a wide range of applications including food, beverage, pharmaceutical and industrial products.
