Cyro Industries: Medical device polymers

Cyro Industries has announced that its Cyrolite® and XT® polymer acrylic-based multipolymer compounds, as well as its Cyrex® acrylic-polycarbonate alloy compounds, are now approved for contact compatibility with a variety of medical applications, including rigid packaging trays.

Compatibility was tested for human insulin solution, Taxol, Heparin, protein solution, and common drug treatment carrier solutions. Ideally suited for applications requiring gamma irradiation, exceptional impact strength, and low melt flow rates, the alloys are opaque and offer high structural integrity and good heat resistance.
