Berkley International Packaging to open new manufacturing facility in Los Angeles

Berkley International Packaging, designer, manufacturer, and distributer of recycled material and renewable plant-fiber, compostable packaging for the food and consumer packaging industry, has finalized the purchase of its manufacturing facility in Los Angeles.

The manufacturing facility will be the first post consumer and plant-based fiber on the West Coast.

Berkley International Packaging is a young and quickly growing company and has decided to locate their first domestic operation in an economic development zone in the green corridor of Los Angeles County. This domestic production is the core of BIP’s production but they will be augmenting their Los Angeles facility with direct import from Mexico and China to serve their long list of prominent customers.

Berkley International Packaging is bringing innovation into the molded fiber industry – drawing from other areas in the packaging industry. “Being based in Los Angeles, we are right in the backyard of many of our customers – you can’t put a price on that. We have seen a lack of innovation and turnkey solutions using molded fiber and at Berkley International Packaging, we are focused on bringing custom, high quality thermoformed fiber and offer full turnkey solutions for our customers.” commented co-founder Eric Berkley.

The company is currently the only manufacturer on the West Coast providing custom packaging using post consumer and plant-based fiber materials. Their state-of-the-art, fully-automated facility is truly an innovation in their business. Since its inception less than a year ago, BIP has been striving to not only become a premier packager in the molded fiber industry but in the custom packaging space as well. The company's packaging can be manufactured from renewable, wild-harvested plants such as bulrush, bagasse, and bamboo, is compostable, recyclable, tree-free, as well as post-consumer materials.

Co-founder and President of Berkley International Packaging, Jeff Berkley, comes from a long and successful career in the packaging industry. “We are looking to bring facets from other areas of the packaging industry into molded fiber. The industry has not seen much movement in a long time and is finally starting to gain mainstream attraction. With this momentum, we are focused on professional, on-time deliverables for our customers while using eco friendly materials – and molded fiber and BIP is exactly the answer.”
