GSU 14/24 ultrasonic fork sensor from Leuze Lumiflex (Rockaway, NJ) is said to reliably detect clear, metallic, foil, or paper labels or those with conductive inks.

Features include light or dark switching and push-button teach-in or remote teach-in capability. Gap between labels can be as little as 2 mm.
