Banner (Minneapolis, MN) has introduced the patent-pending Omni-Beam® Q45 photoelectric sensors, which do not re-quire users to choose a fieldbus system in advance.

A built-in expansion slot allows users to configure the unit to their specific needs or upgrade the system at a later time. Five sensing modes are available: opposed (beam break) for long ranges up to 200', regular or polarized reflective mode for medium ranges up to 30' using a retroflector, diffuse (proximity) for ranges up to 6', convergent for sensing from 4" to 1.5", and fiber optic for use with glass or plastic fibers.
