Johnson & Johnson knows you don't take chances when it comes to baby products. A recent Ecowatch article discussed a massive recall initiated when the FDA found trace amounts of asbestos in one bottle of Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder that was purchased online. Last Friday, the company recalled just one lot of baby powder consisting of 33,000 bottles.

This is the first time the company has recalled baby powder due to asbestos concerns, but the company did face thousands of lawsuits recently that claimed its talc-based baby powder causes cancer. The company released a statement that said, “[J&J] has a rigorous testing standard in place to ensure its cosmetic talc is safe and years of testing, including the FDA’s own testing on prior occasions – and as recently as last month – found no asbestos.” The company is investigating to see if the bottle in question may be counterfeit.
