PAC to the Future, Packaging in 2025 is the theme of PAC – Packaging Consortium’s 2016 conference, scheduled for September 28-29 at the Hilton Hotel, Niagra Falls, Ontario. The conference, recommended for all stakeholders across the packaging value chain, will explore those trends, packaging innovations, and technologies expected to flourish in 2025.

Among the topics to be discussed during the event’s 20-plus conference sessions are the impact on the value chain and packaging of the circular economy, the Internet of Things, omni-channel, big data, analytics, 3D, digital printing, drones, technical and biological nutrients, and more.

Kicking off the conference, Alexander Manu, Professor, OCAD, will speak on “Starting from Scratch: The Future as a Choice.” In his presentation, Manu will survey the fast-changing context for organizations in market spaces where online behavior is replacing physical proximity. Says the PAC agenda, “Thriving in this new context needs transformational leadership, knowledge and courage.”

On day two, six sessions will explore issues surrounding sustainable packaging. These include:

  • “What Does Circular Packaging Look Like in 2025; and Can We Get There?,” Tom Szaky, TerraCycle
  • “Message in a Bottle,” Ryan Modlin, O-I
  • “Redesigning the Future with Renewable Packaging,” Elisabeth Comere, Tetra Pak
  • “MRF 2025 – Zero Waste May Be in Sight?,” Al Metauro, Cascades Recovery Inc.
  • “Disrupting Single Serve Coffee Using Compostable Packaging,” Solange Ackrill, Club Coffee
  • “Competitive Sustainable Packaging Technology Platforms – A Novel Approach,” Atul Bali, Competitive Green Technologies
  • “What Will the Circular Economy Look Like in 2025 – Industry and Government Perspective,” panel discussion

The conference will also host speakers from major CPG companies, including Unilever Canada, Procter & Gamble, and Microsoft Canada.
