Integrated online design tool

An online program offers to help packagers streamline package development processes, control costs, and accelerate speed to market.

Paxonix (www.paxonix.com), a MeadWestvaco company, offers PaxPro, a software package that features a collection of Web-based tools that help make packaging projects easier for all package design and development professionals. The online programs offer digital asset management, packaging project management, specification management, workflow management, and integrated reporting.

The Web-based environment centralizes storage of any type of digital asset, including graphics, CAD drawings, packaging specifications, and other documents. It also offers project templates for faster creation of frequently followed plans, Gantt charts for visual representation of projects, and import/export capability.

A complete specification management platform is customized to fit the specific needs of the packaging lifecycle. Users can create specifications to standardize product data across an enterprise, or look up frequently followed task plans. They can also manage specifications across business units and regions securely over the Internet.

The program also offers an automated workflow for serial and parallel review-and-approval cycles. This helps provide the right content to the right participants in a timely manner, and minimizes lag times, ensuring smooth handoffs to expedite approvals. Email links are available for quick access to files within the digital asset management repository, providing an easy way to comment on digital files and promote informal collaboration.

Blue Diamond Growers and its external design partner recently used the Packaging Professional Suite for a major line redesign effort, which included on-line proofing, annotation, and review; design project management from start to finish; and management of assets to provide visibility at previously unreachable stages of the supply chain.
