SIG celebrates 150 years

On January 17, SIG celebrates its 150-year jubilee. In 1853, three Swiss industrial pioneers, Friedrich Peyer, Heinrich Moser, and Conrad Neher, founded SIG at Neuhausen Rhine Falls.

The motto of the jubilee, “Together into the Future,” demonstrates the intention of the international packaging group to make good use of the Jubilee Year to strengthen links and look forward to positive achievements.

During the Jubilee Year, various events and celebrations will be held. They are directed at supporting the new corporate strategy, “bringing together cultures and creating a common feeling of ‘us’ within the group.”

On Jubilee Day, employees will gather at 38 locations around the world to celebrate together. A globally-linked Packaging Challenge will provide insight into the various activities and talents of the major SIG locations.

In spring, a showroom will open in Neuhausen. In addition to the state-of-the-art exhibits, historic products from SIG will be displayed in the newly renovated rooms, located directly above the Rhine Falls.

At the end of October, a packaging symposium on the subject of “Packaging – a new medium?” will be held for customers in conjunction with ETH Zurich. On the evening of October 30, SIG employees and invited guests will attend the official celebration in Schaffhausen.
