Ranpak named as innovator

Ranpak Corp. (Concord Township, OH), has been named by Inc magazine as one of the 10 most innovative companies in America.

The August issue of Inc ranks the packaging company 10th on its list that's determined by the number of patents in the last five years. In that period Ranpak secured 103 U.S. patents and another 100 abroad.

What makes the achievement more interesting is that Ranpak, maker of paper-based dunnage systems, is the only company in the top 10 not in the medical/pharmaceutical or the electronics hardware/software businesses. "It's amazing [that Ranpak is] in that group," said Leigh Buchanan, senior editor of Inc. The company "is looking for ways to improve their products and machines. That gives them a competitive edge."
