UV/EB technologies continues to grow

Market growth of 6% to 9% each year for the next three years is predicted for ultraviolet and electron-beam technologies, according to a biennial survey, North American Market Update, conducted by RadTech Intl. North America (Chevy Chase, MD).

Manufacturers of products for UV and electron beam use report sales volume was up 8% in 2000-2001 vs the previous two-year period. However, the survey identifies certain areas where the growth is expected to outpace the average. These include digital printing, adhesives and food packaging, says James Reese of DSM Desotech, current RadTech president.

Incoming RadTech president David Diehl of PPG also points out that process speed and simplification have replaced pollution prevention and compliance issues as key drivers for growth.
