Marconi Data Systems to be sold to Danaher

Marconi Data Systems Inc. (Wood Dale, IL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marconi plc, announced that Danaher Corp. (Washington, DC) signed a definitive agreement to purchase Marconi for $400 million.

The acquisition, expected to close before the end of March, remains subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.

“Marconi Data Systems’ brands – Videojet®, Marsh® and Cheshire® – and its integrated data management solutions will act as the cornerstone in creating a new 'Product Identification' business platform at Danaher Corp.,” says H. Lawrence Culp, Jr., Danaher's CEO. “Videojet’s strong global brand, broad product offering and significant aftermarket revenue base combine to create a terrific company and an exciting addition to Danaher."

“We are very enthused with Danaher’s understanding of our business and the opportunities this union will create,” says Craig E. Bauer, president and CEO of Marconi Data Systems. “Danaher’s concentration on continuous improvement and partnership relationships with associates, customers and suppliers also fits well with our corporate values and beliefs.”
