TS Packaging, a contract food packager, has recalled its “Rural King” and “Wabash Valley Farms” Bacon Seasoning after a soy ingredient was found to be undeclared in the product, the FDA announced.
Before the recall, the seasoning was distributed nationwide via E-commerce and retail stores. The product was packaged in 4.2 oz plastic jars with numbers 17324s,27824s, and 30324s. In addition, 1 oz sample gift packets were marked with lot numbers 16524SP, 16624SP, 23424SP, 26324SP, 26424SP, 26724SP, 20624S, 20724S.

TS Packaging initiated the recall after discovering a soy-containing ingredient was a substitute provided by a supplier without notification of the presence of soy, the FDA states. A follow-up investigation indicated the problem was caused by a substitution review process gap between the supplier and their customer base. The FDA says corrective actions are in place to prevent recurrence.
Those with allergies to products containing soy have a risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if such a product is consumed. As of Jan. 24, 2024, no illnesses have been reported in connection with TS Packaging’s recall, the FDA notes.
