Product and processing at HR Pharmaceuticals

HR lubricant for surgical and universal applications meets several requirements, including CFR, cGMP, ISO, and Kosher-certification.

“The HR brand has been an industry icon throughout the medical world,” says Jon P. Wiesman, president and CEO of York, PA-based HR Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He explains, “The mission to bring HR Lubricating Jelly back to market began in April of 2007 after a five-year hiatus. After 30-plus months of historical and distribution research dating back to the early 1920s, on January 19, 2010 we achieved the Preamendment Status for HR Lubricating Jelly.”

The company purchases only Kosher and/or pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, then follows production practices in accordance with the requirements of 21 CFR Part 820, Good Manufacturing Practices—cGMP & Quality Systems Requirements (QRS) for Medical Devices. HR Pharmaceuticals is ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003, & Kosher-Certified.

HR is water-soluble, stable, non-greasy and spreads evenly. It is used as a vaginal lubricant, in hospitals and physicians’ offices for lubricating rubber products, rectal thermometers, rectal and vaginal nozzles for infants and adults. The lubricant is used in pre-op and in the operating room, for intubation and catheterization, OBGYN, procedures, and general exams. It is also used in diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasounds as a protective barrier in post-op recovery from plastic surgery, and applied to the skin for laser hair removal. HR Lubricant is the only “Universal” lubricant on the market.
