No 'secret' about fragrance carton

New Dana Perfumes recently rolled out its Secrets fragrance in two sizes in decorated plastic folding cartons from Diamond Packaging.

The French straight-tuck carton was designed by Diamond’s Lesley Bates. Graphics were developed by Evonne Borda of New Dana.

The folding carton is made from 15-mil clear polyvinyl chloride. Blue foil stamping to the sides, top and bottom panels beautifully complements the graphics and gives the entire carton an impressive hue. Text is offset printed in white (two hits), process blue, and a metallic silver. A UV coating imparts a scratch resistance to the outside surface.

Designed for mass markets, Secrets by Dana is being offered in two sizes, 0.5-oz for $9.99, and 2-oz for $19.99. “Our accounts welcomed the new introduction into their lines,” reports Richard Davis, marketing manager for New Dana in Mountaintop, PA. “Plus, the reaction was great from consumers.”

In packaging, Davis explains, a p-s wafer seal is applied to each tuck end to keep consumers from opening the carton in stores to smell the fragrance. “We wanted to make sure it was sealed when the consumer buys it,” he says.
