Whisky packaging's got marketing game

The Scotland-based Edington Group has introduced bottled Black Grouse Scotch Whisky in handsome, board-to-board laminated over-cartons converted by Chesapeake Corp. (www.chesapeakecorp.com) and incorporating bright white Incada paperboard from Iggesund (www.iggesund.com).

The board used for the carton is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) (www.fscus.org), an independent international organization that maintains and manages forests that are used as sources of wood, paper, and other pulp products.

The premium-looking, high-shelf-presence carton features five-color lithographic printing with a satin finish, gold foil stamping, detailed embossing, and spot gloss varnish in key illustrations and text. The cartons are produced at Chesapeake’s East Kilbride, Scotland facility. The new carton was introduced during early Summer 2008. Current market venues include travel retail stores and select supermarkets in Europe, Russia, and South Africa.
