This survey, conducted in January ’04, resulted in 218 qualified respondents. Nearly a third of all respondents identified their companies as being in the food business. Slightly more than 15% were participants from companies that made nonfood consumer products, and 14% said their companies made medical or pharmaceutical products.
About 30% of the respondents had engineering titles, while 15% had specific packaging job responsibilities. Nearly 11% came from purchasing individuals, nearly the same number who had plant or corporate management titles.
On a geographical basis, more than one-third of respondents came from companies in the Midwest, while 18% said their companies were based in the Northeast. About 13% of respondents called the West Coast home, about the same number who said they were based in the Southeast. The Southwest and Mountain States were home for another 9% of participants. Fewer than 5% came from outside the United States.
Finally, more than 81% of all respondents said they were regular readers of Packaging World.
