PMMI's 'train the trainer' program gets the boost from test (sidebar)

Machine training sessions scheduled

Shortly after the “pilot” training session was completed, the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s Education Committee announced dates and locations for its On-the-Job train-the-trainer programs. The goal is to have PMMI member companies send their lead trainers to a training program. Later, that person can use the skills and information learned to instruct the balance of a company’s training personnel. That serves as the first step in “accrediting” a company’s training program. Along with a trainer’s successful completion of the PMMI program, the company also needs to ensure that its machinery documentation meets industry standards for content and ease of use in a training situation. General Physics will assist PMMI in both phases of the program, conducting the OJT training sessions and also reviewing technical documentation. PMMI OJT training programs are scheduled for the following are dates and locations: Nov. 28, 2001: Inex Vision Systems, Clearwater, FL Dec. 11, 2001: Label-Aire, Inc., Fullerton, CA Jan. 22, 2002: Nordson Corp., Duluth, GA Feb. 20, 2002: CA (location to be determined) Mar. 19, 2002: Materials Handling Systems, Elkridge, MD Apr. 25, 2002: Automated Packaging Systems, Streetsboro, OH May 15, 2002: Digital Design, Inc., Cedar Grove, NJ June 12, 2002: WI (location to be determined) July 18, 2002: Econocorp, Inc., Randolph, MA Aug. 8, 2002: Yaskawa Electric America, Waukegan, IL Sept. 18, 2002: Bosch Packaging Technologies, Minneapolis, MN Oct. 16, 2002: Canada (location to be determined)
