Bemis Europe wins UK Packaging Award

The Bemis EZ Peel® Reseal package, a recent technology developed in North American that is achieving global acclaim, garnered top honors for consumer convenience at this year’s UK Packaging Awards.

The Asda Extra Special semi rigid packages with Bemis EZ Peel® Reseal technology open smoothly and close reliably with fingertip pressure. As one UK Packaging Awards judge put it, “It’s about time someone nailed this one.”

The semi rigid package system features Bemis EZ Peel® Reseal film, an advanced peelable technology that exposes a pressure sensitive layer when the consumer opens the package. The easy-opening action of the lidstock leaves a smooth surface for the adhesive to adhere to upon closing to keep the meats fresher, longer. In addition, robust construction of the lidding film ensures the lid lays flat upon reclose, with an improved adhesive layer that provides strong, consistent tack over multiple uses. A simple touch of the finger recloses the package to protect the remaining servings.

The award-winning package consists of printable, high-barrier EZ Peel® Reseal lidstock hermetically sealed to opaque PET formed rollstock. The system maintains complete seal integrity around the perimeter of package, eliminating material weakening or oxygen or moisture ingress caused by die-cut or scoring used in other peel/reseal systems. EZ-Peel® Reseal packaging is ideal for multi-serving foods like sliced meats and cheeses, as well as for multi-packs of consumer goods like razors and batteries.
