The industry-wide transition to sustainable flexible packaging materials on flow wrappers and vertical FFS baggers has been challenging, particularly as it relates to heat-seal quality and machine speeds.
"When heat sealing flexible packages, it is well understood that the packaging material’s seal range is a key driver of package quality and maximum machine speeds," explains Greener Corporation Packaging Technology Engineer Steve Tucker. "The seal range of sustainable materials is typically narrower than that of the traditional structures being replaced, requiring end-users to significantly reduce machine speeds to maintain their seal integrity standards."
Steve will present a novel method for quantifying key factory-floor performance metrics. He will also detail advanced sealing jaw technologies designed to mitigate the impact of narrow-seal range sustainable materials and eliminate the need for costly machinery upgrades or new equipment.
