Barrier resin suitability

Invista has announced that its PolyShield™ MXD6 barrier resin is suited for use in food pkg. applications in the European Union in contact with all food types, except for fatty foods and foods with an alcohol content greater than 10%.

Resin blends provide good oxygen scavenging and passive gas barrier in combination with good clarity in tinted monolayer food containers such as beer bottles. Also allows bottles to meet shelf-life requirements for demanding foods such as juice and ketchup, and eliminates empty bottle shelf-life issues.
