Amcor Flexibles Inc. snagged a Gold Award in the Packaging Excellence category with a consumer-friendly four-pack of cheeses sold by Emmi, the largest Swiss milk processor and one of Europe’s leading dairy innovators.

The four-pack holds four separate cavities, 20 to 25 mm deep, thermoformed of APET on a Multivac thermoform/seal system. Four varieties of cheese, each piece weighing between 40 and 50 kg, are placed in the cavities, which are then sealed with a proprietary Amcor polyester-based lamination. Thanks to what Amcor calls “contour perforation technology,” consumers can either peel the entire lid off at once or peel open only as many cavities as they desire. The convenient multi-portion pack helps attract new customers and creates opportunities for new consumption occasions.

The 9-color gravure printing and the unusual style and design features of the package make it stand out on the store shelf. Also, the appealing colors and images have been enhanced by matte and gloss print effects, while windows on the lid reveal the contents. Copy printed on the lidding over each cavity highlights the opening benefits.
