Glenroy celebrates 50 years in flexible film

Flexible packaging specialist Glenroy Inc. commemorates 50-year anniversary.

Glenroy Inc. was established in July 1965 in Milwaukee, WI, by founders Edwin, Ruth and Roy Jablonka. The company was named after Edwin and Ruth's two sons, Glen and Roy.

Although Glenroy began with only three employees and a single facility, positive word-of-mouth and a reputation for producing dependable packaging film led to a loyal following of customers and steady growth. Today, Glenroy employs over 200 people within four facilities in suburban Milwaukee, and supplies flexible packaging film and stand-up pouches to leading brands in a variety of industries.

Now under the third generation of family ownership, Glenroy is proud to remain a family-owned company. The company's shareholders have continually reinvested in Glenroy's machinery, technology, and workforce to provide customers with a wide range of capabilities and top industry talent. For example, in January 2015, Glenroy purchased the pouch converting operations of PF Flexibles, allowing the company to provide customers with some of the most extensive in-house premade pouch converting capabilities in the industry. And in September 2015, Glenroy will unveil a new $4 million piece of equipment that will allow the company to provide an expanded range of packaging film laminations.

Although the flexible packaging industry has changed dramatically since Edwin, Ruth, and Roy opened Glenroy's doors in 1965, the company’s mission remains the same. According to cofounder Roy Jablonka: “The world is a very different place than it was the summer of 1965 when Dad, Mom, and I opened the doors of our first facility. What hasn't changed is the drive to always make a difference for our customers.”

Richard Buss, Glenroy’s president and CEO, says: “A key reason for our growth has been a passionate focus on making our customers successful. We believe that the primary way to ensure the success of our customers is through our dedicated employees. This focus on our customers and our employees has been a key ingredient in our recipe for the past 50 years, and it will continue to be our priority during the next 50 years and beyond.”
