Hema celebrates 80 years of service and innovation

More than 3,500 Hema machines have been installed in over 100 countries around the world.

Since 1936, Hema has been a leader in designing, manufacturing, and supporting filling machines for global markets. And as the manufacturer based in Quimper, France, celebrates its rich history this year, it looks forward to a bright future of continued innovation and service.

Founded by mechanic Henri Marchadour, who led the company for three decades, Hema became known internationally for creativity and ingenuity. Today, its diverse customer base includes filling systems for complex liquid foods like edible oils, canned meats, dressings, pate, and more. More than 3,500 Hema machines have been installed in over 100 countries around the world.

In April 2015, Hema joined the Barry-Wehmiller family of companies as part of its PneumaticScaleAngelus division. The strategic blending of technology, installed base, and expertise of the PSA and Hema organizations created a world leader in the manufacturing of filling and capping solutions with annual revenues approaching $200 million.

“Becoming part of PneumaticScaleAngelus and the Barry-Wehmiller organization has provided us with greater capability to support customers as an enhanced global packaging solutions partner,” remarks Marc Vincent, Hema’s Marketing and Strategy Director. “It is a natural fit of people, technology, and markets served, and we are working toward a great future.”

“The entire team at Hema should be very proud of the great tradition of outstanding equipment and services that have been provided to many valued customers for the past 80 years,” says Bill Morgan President, PneumaticScaleAngelus.

“Barry-Wehmiller is proud to be a part of Hema’s next 80 years and beyond,” concludes Bob Chapman, Barry-Wehmiller Chairman and CEO. “As we work toward creating value together, we remain steadfast in our promise to create a company that continues to give a secure future and meaningful and fulfilling work for its team members.”
