Less than all

The Center for Science in the Public Interest charged that Smuckers’ line of Simply 100% Fruit is mislabeled because the amount of the fruit is less than 100%.

In fact, the amount of the advertised fruit can be as low as 30%. Some of the products in the line have less fruit than Smuckers’ regular line of fruit preserves, which by law must contain at least 47% fruit.

CSPI called on FDA to crack down on Smuckers’ false labeling and to require all food companies to declare on the label the percentages of key ingredients. Some form of percentage-ingredient labeling on foods is required by all European Union countries, Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand, CSPI noted.
