Retail chains posted the highest compliance levels at 95.6%; large independent stores and medium/ small independents had rates of 89.4% and 83.1% respectively.
Meat labeling
According to a recently-released USDA survey, over 92% of retail stores had the required Safe Food Handling Labels on meat and poultry products. Because such labels are mandatory, USDA failed a store if one item within one category was found to lack the appropriate label.
