Global diversified packaging supplier Sonoco has announced it will be investing $20 million in the development of a packaging center to support Duracell’s new North American battery packaging operation in Atlanta.

Sonoco’s Display and Packaging unit will be located in the new facility and will feature state-of-the-art primary packaging equipment. Sonoco will also provide all of the packaging materials for Duracell’s products as well as produce retail merchandising displays that will be packed out of the same facility.

Full production is expected in Q4-18. Sales of packaging and services annualized over the five-year contract period are expected to be more then $50 million.
