Squid Ink Manufacturing, Inc., a manufacturer of coding and marking equipment and high-quality fluids, introduces the new SQ10-UV-A laser marking system. The SQ10-UV-A marking system is designed to mark plastics with minimal heat stress while providing a high-quality permanent mark. It is ideal for marking materials made from PE, HDPE, LDPE, PP, ABS, and PVC, as well as most metals.

The SQ10-UV-A laser utilizes a 355nm wavelength, which allows marking to be performed on surfaces that are unable to withstand the marking intensity of other laser systems, including PE, HDPE, LDPE, PP, ABS, PVC, metals, and more. Additionally, the system features a rugged cast aluminum controller body with an IP54 rating to ensure maximum reliability and uptime for the most demanding applications. No requirement for ink/consumables results in a clean and eco-friendly system with a lower cost of ownership and is an ideal alternative to CIJ printing systems.

The system is designed for versatility and can be set up in minutes. It is easily configurable, allowing for quick installation for stationary and moving applications. The small footprint of the SQ10-UV-A allows it to easily fit into production environments where space is limited. For applications requiring both vertical and horizontal marking, the laser head can be rotated 90° in less than 5 minutes. Additionally, a removable 10” tethered touchscreen provides flexibility for remote mounting.

The SQ10-UV-A features an integrated water-cooled chiller to protect the marking head, allowing for faster line speeds and increasing the lifespan of the laser. The marking head comes standard with a 90mm x 90mm marking area, and optional lenses can be ordered to mark up to a 600mm x 600mm area.

The SQ10-UV-A marking system uses advanced scribing technology to create precise marks. It offers the flexibility to mix fonts and logos in a message and generate discrete codes for anti-counterfeiting and traceability purposes. Programming messages is simple with the user-friendly touchscreen interface, making it easy to generate codes with the information the user needs on their products.
