Report Says Logistics Salaries Rising

Medical logistics pros earn a healthy wage, according to a DC VELOCITY salary survey.

A recent survey showed an increase in logistics salaries.
A recent survey showed an increase in logistics salaries.

According to DC VELOCITY’S 13th annual Salary Survey, logistics professionals “enjoyed a boom year in 2015,” with a $119,425 average annual salary, representing a five-percent jump year-over-year.

Among average salaries by industry sector, pharmaceutical and healthcare pros topped the list at $183,653. Third-party logistics services workers were third on the list, making $140,514 on average. Meanwhile, consumer packaged goods pros responding to the survey averaged $96,917 in salary last year.

By function, survey respondents most frequently managed warehouse and/or distribution center management, followed by logistics management, supply chain management, transportation management, procurement/purchasing, import/export operations and fleet operations.

Workers in the western region averaged the most in salary at $133,228, with New England-region pros at the other end of the spectrum, reporting an average salary of $103,914.

Not surprisingly, pros with greater experience and education levels earned the most. Workers older than age 65, in fact, reported an average salary of $276,333.

Vice Presidents reported average salaries of $184,500, $4,500 more than Presidents.

The report provides some interesting verbatim quotes on what supply chain managers like least about their jobs, and, other than more money, what would give supply chain managers more job satisfaction? Many of the comments were aimed at improving educational opportunities, better technology, and management-related issues.
