Relative to its stroke, this unit is compact. For example, it is 30 percent narrower than the Festo DGC-G. Small footprint helps conserve machine real-estate. Piston size ranges from 18 to 80 mm; stroke lengths from 1 to 8,500 mm. At six-bar pressure, the DGC-K delivers from 153 to 3,000 N. Position sensing is via proximity sensor.

The DGC-K is a double-acting linear drive with slotted cylinder barrel and optional moment compensator. Units can be mounted in any position and are easy to assemble and install. For fast maintenance and repair, the actuator can be removed without having to unbolt the frame from the machine.

Festo developed a unique sealing system which includes a polyurethane sealing band that snaps into the profile of the DGC-K for effective sealing, and a magnetically retained metal cover strip which prevents contamination. This sealing system significantly reduces leakage compared to other common designs within the industry which utilize metal or polymer sealing bands which must be tensioned between the end caps. These polyurethane seals lower operating costs, lengthen actuator service life, and are easy to replace.

OEMs have a choice of standard or extended piston. For food and beverage packaging applications, these units can be specified with NSF-H1 food grade lubricant.
