Detergent package wins AmeriStar award
Co-packing played a key role in developing a package whose shape and functionality bring a new look to the laundry detergent aisle. Display Pack (www.displaypack.com) created the design and Apco Packaging (www.apcopackaging.com) filled the package for Orange Glo International’s Oxi Clean Toss-N-Go “detergent ball.” The package won a 2006 AmeriStar award, which was presented at the Packaging Summit in May 2007.

Algus expansion quadruples co-packing workload
An extensive expansion project has been completed in the contract packaging division at Algus Packaging Inc. The DeKalb, IL-based packager has expanded its co-packing operation to 85,000 sq ft by adding five new lines. The expansion enables the company the capability to quadruple its contract-packaging workload, says James Patrick, marketing manager.

DIY Group to expand operations
DIY Group Inc. (www.diygroup.com), a contract packager in Muncie, IN, is nearing completion on a 126,000-sq-ft expansion project. The $2.25 million expansion will put an addition onto the company’s existing 432,000-sq-ft facility, making DIY’s facility one of the largest contract packaging operations in the Midwest.
