All survey participants were women. They were invited by e-mail to take the survey. In the e-mail invitation there was a link to the packworld.com Web site, where they could answer a questionnaire. Of the nearly 100 respondents, almost 45% were packaging buyers from end-user companies, 3% worked for contract packagers, 14% were with machinery suppliers, 33% were with materials suppliers, and 5% worked for a packaging services provider. The highest percentage of the women in the survey work for companies with more than 2ꯠ employees, and are employed in various packaging-related positions. All participants understood that the survey was completely confidential. However, some volunteered to elaborate on their answers in a telephone interview and to have their names attached to their comments.
