Thermal Shipping Solutions, based in Novato, California, has been awarded a United States patent (Patent No. US 11,691,402 B2) for the development of Renewliner, a PET-based shipping carton used for cold temperature preservation in a variety of industries, including food service, pharmaceuticals, medical diagnostics, meat, produce, and agriculture.

This patented technology is a unique configuration of pure polyester terephthalate (PET) configured into rigid wadding, with the rigid wadding bonded between surface laminations comprised of pure polyester terephthalate film. This satisfies the resin recycling identification code number one, while protecting an inner rigid wadding for thermally secure insulation, maintaining the integrity of each product.

Renewliner is available in multiple sizes and configurations for the preservation of required cold temperature shipping up to 72 hours. It is 100% reclaimable and one of the only product materials in existence that is infinitely recyclable, while employing manufacturing techniques that offer a lower carbon footprint when compared to other insulating products.

“Renewliner offers an alternative to traditional insulated, non-green products like Styrofoam that are difficult, if not impossible, to recycle,” states Sal Cardinale, Owner and Founder of Thermal Shipping Solutions. “It is also significantly lighter in weight and less expensive to produce, which gives our customers both a product quality and product price advantage, while remaining eco-friendly.”

Though other companies may advertise similar technology, only TSS owns the patented technology behind Renewliner, which also was recently recognized by the Cold Chain Global Forum as the Most Sustainable Temperature-Sensitive Project in the U.S.

“Like all the products in our thermal portfolio, we’re closing the loop by only extracting and using materials from re-useable, current waste streams,” added Max Cardinale, Vice President at Thermal Shipping Solutions. “We are an eco-engineered company, so that products like Renewliner, represent a fully regenerative cycle of life. In that way, we nurture the products that nourish the world.”
