Essentra: Label technology keeps products fresh

Essentra Packaging’s AquaSense Active Label Technology, which is activated by the consumer after opening the package, helps maintain and control the moisture content within packs by storing and releasing water through its unique structure and material technology.

Developed and jointly patented in conjunction with Essentra Porous Technologies, the AquaSense pad soaks up a specific amount of water that it then releases within the pack, keeping contents fresh, controlling humidity, and reducing product waste.  Consumers simply add water till the image on the pad appears. When the image disappears, the consumer simply adds more water.

The AquaSense pad is available in a variety of formats and sizes and is designed to meet the specific needs of the product it is protecting. Options include high-impact graphics and promotional messages, which can be combined with instructions on how to activate the freshness-capability of the pad.  Because the pad soaks up only as much moisture as it needs, consumers do not need to measure the amount of water needed to activate the pad.  Pads can simply be held under a tap or dipped in a glass of water to continue functioning just as effectively, giving the consumer a much more interactive relationship with the brand through the packaging.
