Seiko Corp. (Mishima, Japan) has introduced the FPW Series of pouch fillers for liquids. In these monobloc systems, pouches are conveyed through the filling and heat-sealing stations in patent-pending holders that cycle back to receive a new pouch after the present one is filled and discharged.

Marketers at the Mentholatum Co. ached for a way to vividly show consumers how to use three new varieties of Migraine Ice cooling headache pads. They found relief in a colorful paperboard carton that uses a substantial portion of its front panel to show a consumer finding fast pain relief by applying a pad to his or her forehead, temple or neck.

When Marshall Pet Products of Wolcott, NY, introduced its Premium Ferret Diet food in a 4-lb size last October, it opted for a resealable stand-up pouch from Cryovac (Duncan, SC). “Our product doesn’t stay on the shelf long,” company vice president Peter Reid is happy to report. “But compared to more typical paper/plastic structures with a 12-month shelf life, this pouch has about twice the shelf life. It provides excellent oxygen barrier for the premium meat-based product.”
