Pack Expo Video: High-speed case/tray packer for drink pouches

NEWS FROM PACK EXPO: BluePrint Automation (Colonial Heights, VA) demonstrated a servo-driven, robotic top-loading machine for case-packing stand-up pouches. See video clip of this machine

The machine was shown packing stand-up drink pouches into a corrugated display case at speeds of about 450 pouches/min, though the manufacturer says the machine can reach speeds to 500 pouches/min.

Applications include liquid drink pouches and retortable pouches such as pet food. Accommodates multiple pack sizes, product sizes, and carton configurations. Manufacturer claims no changeover is required between varying products or pack configurations.

Pouches are collated into a group using one of several custom collation methods. The product is then picked by a specially designed end effector. The servo-driven robot ensures smooth placement of the liquid pouch into the secondary container.

The small-footprint machine is also available in a washdown version. Incorporates five Indramat servo drives and motors from Bosch Rexroth's Electric Drives and Controls Div. (Hoffman Estates, IL).
