But critics, primarily from the U.S. dairy industry, warn that it could lead to the use of milk from animals other than cows, such as water buffalo (which accounts for 90% of India’s dairy industry). IICA’s petition calls for clear labeling of any “exotic” milk, but the rules for powdered milk are less clearcut.
